About the Symposium

The National Athlete & Sport Ecosystem Symposium is a national forum that brought together policymakers, sport federations, coaches, athletes, parents, and private partners for one day of focused alignment on the future of sport in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Talent in TCI has never been the issue. Turning that talent into sustained high performance has. Without a shared framework, athletes and families faced unclear pathways, unrealistic expectations, burnout, and dropout, while public and private investment was spread thin. The Symposium was convened to close that gap, creating one platform, one shared language, and one system that everyone understands and plays their part in.

Structured around three core outcomes: participation, development, and performance. The day walked stakeholders through the national six-level athlete pathway and its critical transition points, especially the move from participation into structured performance development. Through a keynote, a leadership panel, athlete fireside chats, and hands-on sessions for parents and athletes, the Symposium built real alignment on roles and responsibilities, standards of accountability, and long-term governance and welfare planning across the sport ecosystem.

The 2026 National Athlete and Sport Ecosystem Symposium wasn't a one-off event. It's the bi-annual anchor of a long-term commitment to a national sport system worthy of the talent, ambition, and identity of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

What Comes Next

"The challenge is not participation. It is conversion. And conversion requires systems that are intentional, resourced, and accountable.

That is the standard we have set for ourselves. And this is the system that we are building now. Not in theory. In practice. Federation by federation, sport by sport, athlete by athlete."

— Mr. Jarrett Forbes, Director of Sport, Turks and Caicos Islands Sports Commission
